BLEST WITH A GIFT
(Poem number 3000)

I have been blest with a gift so that
poetry runs free,
Flowing like a mighty river ever
rushing to the sea,
Words also flow like many fish that swim
in waters dark and deep,
Laughing and dancing they come so thoughts
on to pages gladly leap.
Poems come sometimes fast like water
over a waterfall,
Other times flow slowly as if deep emotion
the water wants to recall.
It starts from a small spring, the beginning
of a stream or creek,
Ideas constantly come from this fountain
bringing thoughts I seek.
Sometimes a beaver dam comes and
tries to block a thought,
But after a short time the poems win,
a victory well fought.
May my little fresh spring ever strive
to flow on to the sea
So I can keep writing poetry in life
and through eternity.
