COMPOST HEAP The dying flowers were thrown on the compost heap,
They’d lasted three weeks although rather cheap.
Later the compost was raked and spread all around,
So that next year rich healthy soil would be found,
Dormant earth stays during winters reign,
Until pretty spring turn comes round again.
Almost time to plant seeds and put bedding plants in,
So we may have flowers and much admiration win
Look over there something is growing already,
It should be quiet bare, but for planting now ready,
Remember those dying flowers I threw away?
There seeds renewed to live on for another day.
