SIGNS OF WANING SUMMER
We saw going south cormorants flying high,
In vee formation silvered against the blue sky,
Then some Canada Geese were doing the same,
It means summer is ending, thats a shame.
Here and there the trees lose their bright green,
The harvest moon is bigger with a richer sheen,
Farewell summer, good and gentle friend
Of balmy a long days that I do not want to end.
The mighty moose has his full rack spread
Ready for mating battles that lie ahead,
Bears turn into a walking eating machine,
Ready to sleep through winters cold so mean.
Flys are turning sleepy, mosquitoes fade away,
The air is quiet cool at the end of the day,
Summer is changing into magnificent fall,
No longer will we hear the loons haunting call.
