A LITTLE BUTTER WITH HOME MADE BREAD
It’s hot, just out of the oven, you can smell it far and wide,
The joy and pleasure of waiting to eat it you cannot hide,
It looks so good sitting there as it cools off enough to eat,
I’m sure friends will call round our new bread to greet.

But we are on a low cholesterol diet so there’s no butter,
It seems a crying shame, we together did both did utter,
That we have to put margarine on lovely new hot bread,
We think that a little butter won’t make us drop down dead.

Maybe home made jam will do it will add to the taste,
But not having butter on hot brad is nothing but waste,
Do we hurry off to the store, weaken and so buy some?
Or will we be good and stay on our diet that is so humdrum.

Well, I’ll not tell you what we did, if we were good or bad,
I will mention that it was some of the best bread we have had,
I’ll not tell you if our cholesterol count went up sky high today,
But for warm homemade bread from your diet would you stray?
