HOME MADE CHOCOLATES
I know its only summer and this is a Christmas thing,
Someone got talking and back many memories it did bring.
Ones mouth begins to water as many flavors come to mind,
All the family together, hard work, fun and laughter find.
The making of the fondant, with sugar, butter and cream
Things that when on a diet are just a lovely sweet dream,
Candy themometers, thick pots and pans and lots of muscle,
Aching arms from stirring none stop, lots of hustle and bustle.
But what about the beating? taking it turn and turn about,
Waiting for the texture to turn, you can tell without a doubt,
The choosing all the flavors, maple, orange, lemon or peach
Not forgetting nutty clusters and some juicy cherries please.
Then everyone wants to do the dipping, but there is a trick
Not to have skirts on the chocolates, fingers not to want to lick,
Placing them with a twirl on the top to look professional
Takes lots and lots of practice as well as a ton of skill.
You have to eat the funny shapes, the ones not good enough
To place into the gift box, that part can be rather tough,
Sometimes you forget, which flavor is which and that means
Of cause taste buds need to test, and mine are very keen.
So round about Christmas time please drop by to give a hand
To the making of homemade chocolates on a scale quite grand.
But dont blame me if your scales go up a notch or two,
For testing and nibbling is a choice made by only you.
