A GIFT WE WANT FROM PHIL

We have a son, a wonderful son
Who has a heart of pure gold.
Yet for some reason we don’t know
He has wandered away from the fold.

He is a precious child of God,
He has been taught the right,
We know that he loves the Lord,
Yet he will not follow the light.

There is one gift we ask of him
As parents trying our best,
That he try to follow the right path,
And the Lord will do the rest.

Try your hardest to give up tobacco
Have the will to give up coffee too,
Trust in the Lord and say a prayer
And He will see you safely through.

The only gift we want from Phil,
Is him returning to the sheltered fold
Find himself and his purpose in life.
Follow the truth that he’s been told.

The gift of being in the temple
With each child at our side
Knowing they’re striving for heaven,
Our joy we could not hide,

Tears would flow down our cheeks
As we sat in Gods holy walls,
As we walked along together,
Eternally together, whatever befalls

So Phil, please give us that gift,
The gift of a repentant heart.
The gift of returning heavenward,
The gift that we will never part.

But Phil, whatever happens
Our love for you will be the same,
If we have to cry you to heaven
Then that will be our aim.

There your heavy burden to cast.
Cast at a loving Saviours feet,
Who would have carried the load
If you would have let him
Along life’s thorny road.
