IN SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH

When life is grand and all is well,
Each day a blessing of good health,
Do we stop for a moment and tell
Our God how we appreciate His gifts?

When strength runs like a river
Through us and we can run
And not weary, heart never quiver,
Are we thankful for our strength?

Or do we take for granted each gift?
Boast as we work, that we are never sick!
We are so strong and can lift
A friend who is weaker or sicker?

Beware dear friend lest sickness
Comes, and with it weakening frailty,
Then comes a dependency on God
As you lean on others and His mercy.

Do not boast of health and strength
But thank your dear God above,
And be prepared to suffer a little
To prove you’re worthy of His love.
