THE GATHERING
They gathered around all so cozy and warm,
Safe in from the storm and free from harm,
Faces alight from the fire lights bright glow,
Eyes sparkling as their love they dud show.
A couple still missing, but theyd make it through,
For it was the gathering to meet, old folks and new,
Three new babies, two new brides and one groom,
But in the old farmhouse there was plenty of room.
The thunder and lightening in perfect unison came,
The house rocked but it stood firm on its frame,
Rain lashed at windows, the wind howled in pain,
Here comes the thunder and lightening together again.
Darkness came early and every light had gone out,
They used some candles as they wandered about,
But all were very quiet there was a prayer in each heart,
Hoping that family members would not be apart.
All should be gathered together round the fire so warm,
Look! Car lights pulling into the yard free from harm,
The door flew open and there in the wind and the rain
The family now united freed from worry and pain.
Then two more cars followed and a tow truck too,
The big family that night increased by quite a few,
People stranded. broken down or had lost their way,
Now had somewhere warm, good food a place to stay.
A wonderful night with just candles and a fires warm glow
In abundance, Gods love to share with folks they didnt know,
Friendships made that night, that would last all life through,
And maybe those bonds would last on through eternity too.
