WHAT DO WE LIVE IN
Is the building we live in a house or a home?
Do all feel glad to return when they did roam?
Do all feel welcome in warm harmonious bliss
Or our spotless front doorstep willingly miss?
Is the house all tidy, neat and extremely clean?
No fingerprints or smudges anywhere seen,
Afraid to sit and relax in case you make a mess,
To me that is a house not a home I must confess.
I love a sparkling clean home and being tidy,
But not at the expence of kindness and charity,
If you are afraid to have a drink while watching TV
In case you spill, that is not a home at all to me.
If a spill on the carpet or on the big easy chair
Causes a scolding and fear then love is not there,
For making messes is a big part of learning and living,
And home is a place where there=s comfort and loving.
Yes, we have stains on the carpet and on many a chair
And sometimes you may find some dust everywhere,
But I pray as you enter within this building of ours
You=ll find a home not a house to spend many hours.
