THE GATHERING
You just have to come to the gathering
it is such fun,
It is worth all the effort and extra work
that has to be done,
Every year we gather to eat and tell tales
both old and new,
You are the newest family member so come
join us, please do.
A bride of a few months and off to some
gathering theyd go,
She did not much like that sort of thing
but her face shed show,
Mainly for a husband to let him know
how much she really cared,
She thought it would be rather dull old
stories being shared.
Well, the gathering day came there was food
and people galore,
All meeting at Bobs house, there were bodies
from ceiling to floor.
She had to admit the food was wonderful
everyone loving and kind,
Then all gathered around the big fire place,
sat anyplace you could find.
Just a few candles lit and the warm cozy
log fires blazing glow.
A tale from everyone telling of things now
and some from long ago.
Her turn came and she told of a story about
her dog when she was young
And at that moment she become part
of the gathering throng.
