CONSERVATIVE HUSBAND
Navy or charcoal suits, a plain white shirt
Nothing fancy or his dignity would be hurt,
All very proper until it comes to his ties,
Then all of us get quite a big surprise.
Most of them are one colour, vivid as can be,
Bright yellow a shocking green for us to see,
One as orange as the sun and a purple one too,
Not forgetting Christmas red and sky blue.
I wont tell of the smiley face tie that you know,
I wrote a poem all about that not too long ago,
Or the Tasmanian devil playing volley ball,
Oh no, I wont mention those bold ties at all.
From the back a sombre man all conservative
Until he turns around and all a gasp do give,
As they see yellow or orange bright as the sun,
Or a green tie helping you think spring has come.
When going to a meeting people turn to see
What colour tie and how very bright will it be,
Smiles from sad faces, a comment from a friend
Tells us that on bright coloured ties your money spend.
