        FLOWERS FOR MY BIRTHDAY
No one knew it was my birthday
Yet sweet flowers came my way,
A single red rose in perfect symmetry,
A pale shade of pink so lovely to see.

A bunch of pinks we used to call them,
Mixed with white flowers like when
I was young and to a farmers market go
Buy myself a country bunch that did glow.

Then today another treat came my way,
Pretty bunch of pansies to brighten my day,
Purples, white, mauve and a bright yellow too,
In time for my birthday, so I’ll say thank you.

My table looks so pretty arrayed with flowers
That will give us joy for many long hours,
The fragrance fills the home with sweetness
So our lives gently with natures gifts us bless.
