PRIORITIES - COMPROMISE
Some things can be put off, be done another day,
Others are different, need to be done right away,
Living a good life may begin by knowing which,
So that half way through a task you have to switch.
Priorities, grandma used to call them, getting it right,
It seemed the only time my parents ever had a fight
Was when priorities differed, they couldnt agree,
At that time none of it made any sense at all to me.
My dad was just a little bit impatient, now means now,
Sometimes mom could not understand that somehow,
Now meant when she had time, when her task was done,
Sometimes I could see both were right and that was no fun.
Then dad had a bright idea that I can follow through,
Compromise sometimes, thats what you have to do,
The washing can wait until Tuesday if its wet outside,
Then the washing wont be hanging all around inside.
Dinner can wait, if there is a soccer game to play
And do we have to have taters every single day?
Priorities are important to keep God in the right place,
Not to impress folks with an important look on our face.
Remember putting God and family first is all we need to do,
Those two priorities will always safely see us through,
Although other things are important, we can be truly wise
When we know when to prioritize or when to compromise.
