PAINTING FROM HOME
Two pretty painting came in the mail today,
A painting of a lighthouse, and a sunset bay,
Both of them painted by those we dearly love
Soon they will go on the wall, just hanging
Above the animal calendar that is daily telling
The countdown of days to us being back home,
Then stay there awhile not wanting far to roam.
Many will see the paintings and we will say
Those were painted by family who are far away.
But the mice, goose blanket, painting all bring them near,
It seems that any moment a knock at the door we’ll hear
And there they will be standing with tears in their eyes
And with one voice, altogether call out, Surprise!
