NAMES NOT OFTEN USED
Some names you would not use when naming a child,
You want them all to be good, sweet, gentle and mild,
How many men do you know who are called Cain?
Who’d call a child after a murderer causing pain.

You don’t hear of many Jezebel’s, Delilah’s or Salome
For these women were far from good, cruel in some way,
The names have become synonymous with all that’s bad
Like greed, envy, pride, selfishness, wanting what others had.

Yet Salome is a pretty name if you put the past where it belongs
The names of Jezebel and Delilah are spoilt some with old songs,
But I must admit I would not use these names for many a reason
For if they grow to fit their names they’d charge you with treason
Or some other crime, blaming you for the name you had chosen,
I can just imagine the look they give, have you totally frozen.
