SNOWY WEATHER
The snow was falling fast, staying on the cold ground,
We hurried from store to store, where heat was found,
We watched the snowflakes, each different we are told,
But a new beauty appeared, fresh clean snow to behold.

Wanting to return to the warmth of home quite soon,
Then we saw children building a snowman, what a boon,
They laughed as they rolled in the snow enjoying the moment,
As if this lovely gift of white as if to them alone was sent.

Their dog was also having fun romping around the glee,
Mom came out with an old scarf and cones from a fir tree,
Now it had eyes and they laughed even more and ran around,
How much joy in that little front garden in winter found.

No longer did the cold matter we wanted to watch the fun,
A carrot for a nose and an old toque, soon the job was done,
Then they stepped back and admired their fine handiwork,
“Lets build a snow dog for Skip” I’m sure they would not shirk.

But we had to move on and leave that happy little crowd,
The children and the dog, and the mother, oh, so proud
Of the work her children had done on a cold snowy day,
And they will never know of the joy they brought our way.
