AUNTY MADGE
When we first met she always seemed
full of hugs and kisses,
Greeted as family right away because
I was going to be Brian’s missus.
She had blue laughing eyes so bright,
always full of happy fun,
Her home was like a haven, a place
were everyone could come
And be fed and sheltered, given
a happy loving smile.
She would be the person who would
willingly go that extra mile.
I loved the way she saved soap ends
to make a new fresh bar,
She saved them and melted them in
a funny little jar.
There was always something cooking
that smelt so good,
And she could feed us all and others
just as you knew she would.
Even if you just dropped in, her not
knowing you were coming,
There would be good food there
for you just waiting.
When we moved here to Canada
so far, far away,
It was hard to say farewell, Aunty,
we will see you one day.
Now we both look forward, and
the day will come
When we will be all together as family,
when our earthly life is done.
So until then, memories will bring
sweet comfort and love,
Until we all receive her hugs and kisses
in heaven above.
