IN SOMEONE ELSE’S KITCHEN
It can be quite a challenge when another’s
kitchen you have to use.
Things are not where mine would be
and I’m very easy to confuse,
Things in the fridge are all fine, they are
not one bit of trouble at all,
Where is the frying pan? Not with the pots,
there it is hanging on the wall.
The spices are all different, not the ones
that I use to cook,
But this is a chance to experiment new things,
not follow my old cook book.
This kitchen is much bigger, there is enough
room to move around,
With lots and lots of cupboard space where
many things are found,
But not the things that I am looking for
however hard I try,
If I go out and buy it, when I return it
will be right before my eyes.
This is just like some new adventure,
finding new things out,
A short while ago as I was searching,
“I’ve found it!” I did shout.
A little victory won and I can make
a nice yummy meal,
But I cannot find the peeler anywhere,
so spuds in their peel.
At least the cooker is a simple one
so I should be fine there,
I need a wooden spoon to stir and
I cannot see one anywhere.
Well, I am sure by the time I have
found where everything goes,
Worked out what is hidden away and
what things shows,
By the time I have to leave, this kitchen
I will know well
And when I arrive back home I am sure
there will be another tale to tell.
