LAST SUMMER BASH
For ages the weather has been really fine,
With lovely breezes and warm sunshine,
Now comes the last long weekend of summer,
The weather man says it will be a bummer.

Unsettled weather for the next few days,
What havoc on plans that forecast plays,
Do you still plan the picnic for the family
In the park beneath our favourite old tree?

To go for a swim isn’t save if thunder is about,
We’ll have to plan something else without a doubt,
Rain for most of the time is what is forecast,
What a damper on all things rain does cast.

Still, we’ll go ahead with the big picnic plan,
I know we’ll have lots of fun and we all can,
Even if the needed rain comes pouring down hard,
We’ll have a nice barbeque in the back yard.

We’ll take it in turns cooking all get soaked through,
When it’s warm and sticky a good thing to do.
But I’m sure a couple more days without needed rain
Would not cause the farmers all that much pain.

So lets us hope the weather man is wrong again
And the last long week end is free from rain,
Let the thunder roll and the lightening flash
When we have had our last holiday bash,
