A LAZY STATION
Our home has a new counter top
neath the windowsill,
It over looks our small bird feeder,
and if you sit really still,
Youll see the birds come and eat,
many a different kind,
It is a lovely place to stay awhile
and relax your mind.
You see children go off to school
muffled up all warm,
If you are there in early morning
youll welcome the dawn,
And see neighbours going to work
as cars go along the street,
By then you will be quite ready
for your morning treat.
We should have had this station
many years ago,
Had a few lazy times, when rushed,
gone a little slow,
Felt the tension ease by just gazing
at birds and neighbours too,
Slowing down before starting
a busy day all through.
Look! here come the mail man,
anything for us today?
Yes, there are letters and some bills,
I wonder what they say?
There goes a large delivery truck,
a new sofa or chair,
A fridge or stove or even bigger
for someone in there.
I really should get some work done,
time is going fast,
Maybe it is a very good thing we had
no lazy station in the past.
Eating breakfast we now dont hurry,
not like years ago,
This is a pleasure saved for those
who can let time go slow. M Ann Margetson ©January 11, 2001
