NEWSPAPERS
I was quietly sitting, thinking, just the other day,
About newspapers and the stories they display,
News and articles that tell of things far and wide,
The truth to the public papers dont want to hide.
At least three hundred years we have been blest
With papers and reporters, some bad, some the best,
Information, stories, advertisements of every kind,
Also many newspapers to choose from we can find.
But what of the Romans who lived many years ago,
Can you imagine how those old stories would flow?
Conquering heros coming back home from the wars,
Carrying treasures to fill coffers, increase the stores.
Can you imagine the headlines in the papers the day
Three best friends went and took their leaders life away!
Each stabbing with cruel knife to the hilt with a curse,
What had their friend done, ambition, nothing worse.
Or the story of the burning of mighty Rome the great,
Thousands die, because of a mad mans great hate
Of the Christian band that began to thrive and grow,
His fear that they would his earthy kinkdom overthrow.
We could tell many tales and stories before newspapers came,
How much news was missed, things that never came to fame,
Because there were no newspapers to make the people aware
Of the happenings throughout the world, and tell all with care.
