SUNNY DINNER
Ever since I was little a weekly special treat
Was Sunday dinner when we always had meat,
Potatoes and two other vegies and trimmings
And with beef always had Yorkshire puddings,
The gravy was always tasty what ever we had,
And on this special day we were always glad
That we had desert especially during the war,
Apple pie and custard, yellow and thick did pour,
Nothing ever seemed to spoil our Sunday dinner
Whatever the meat it was sure to be a winner,
If only cabbage and turnips filled the small plate,
In the war all was good and everything we ate.
Today Sunday is still special, the best meal of the week
And its good that we are not restricted as we greet
All the bounties laid out before in this precious land,
And even if it is quite simple it always seems to grand.
