FORGOTTEN SANTA
Driving along the road today I saw a Santa Clause,
We were going along and then we could not pause,
But there he stood on a veranda roof by the wall,
I wonder, did they remember he was there at all?
He looked so cold and lonely, glad he was inanimate
Or the true Santa Clause would have met a terrible fate,
He was up to his knees in cold, drifted snow so white,
In fact he was in all quite a rejected, miserable sight.
He was there during the season with deers and an elf,
I wondered what he had done to be left there by himself,
Had a gift not arrived on dear old Santa Clauses sleigh
And children were upset, I hope they forgive him one day.
Next time we drive to town and North Cobalt we go through
I hope a poor lonely Santa will not come into our view,
Maybe he is stuck and they will leave him up until next year,
Maybe a way of keeping children in line, be good they often hear.
