        CANADIAN PEA SOUP
On a cold winter’s day soup is good to eat,
Warms you right through from nose to feet,
And if you have a ham cooked on the bone
One of the best soups of all you can own.

Split peas and celery and onions and ham stock,
With chunks of meat cut small, throw in a hock,
Boil and simmer for awhile then let it just stand,
Boil it up again and the soup will be quite grand.

I have some on the stove almost ready to eat,
The weather is cold and windy so it will be a treat,
I like mine in a cup so I can hold it and get warm,
In a bowl is fine it still helps keep you from harm.

Add a few frozen peas to give it an extra kick,
And I am sure the cup or bowl you will want to lick.
Smush it with a smusher so all the flavour stays,
Although it is a lot of work the effort really pays.

Come and join us we always have some to spare,
In a mug or bowl we’ll have fun as the we share
This great meal that costs hardly anything at all,
Maybe the smell will waft and many will call.
