A THOUGHTFUL CHRISTMAS TREE
It is at Christmastime that one thinks of those now gone,
I thought that this year something special could be done,
New baby Ian and our little Ruth who was almost four,
Went for us much too soon through heaven’s open door.

Often we think what six children would have been like,
How many more grandchildren, many an extra little tyke,
But as we drove through the thousands of green fir trees,
We thought to decorate one for them in the icy breeze.

Popcorn strings and bells made out of good bird seed.
Cranberries also strung, I know many a bird would feed
On this Christmas feast and I know Ruth it would please,
Maybe also for small animals little squares of cheese.

Yes, sometime before Christmas a tree we’ll decorate,
Drive past often watch birds and animals with a mate
Feed and keep alive and those we love who are above
Will know we are thinking of them at this time with love.
