More poems about Food.

        WHAT’S FOR DINNER
Standing in the kitchen just wondering what to eat,
Wanting at that moment neither some fish nor meat,
A bowl of soup seems mundane, so does a stew,
At the moment for a meal I don’t know what to do.

Too much cholesterol in a nice rich cheese on toast,
Not the mild cheese but the one we like the most,
Or a nice egg custard that we can only eat occasionally,
We had one yesterday so that food also cannot really be.

Shepherds pie is good but it’s not exciting enough for me,
I feel like eating something special, duck la orange maybe,
But that take too much time and effort and my dear spouse
May not like that meal but he never would moan or grouse,

Maybe today we can eat out and so then no effort is required
No dishes to wash, but again would we find what we desired?
When you don’t know what you want to have on your plate,
Why waste money at a restaurant, save that for another date.

Steak and kidney pie! Yes, I think that is what it will be,
It won’t take too long to make a nice pile of flaky pastry,
And make some mince pies and a bumble berry pie or two,
At least I’ll keep busy and good food will come through.
