        LOOK OUT FOR THE BEARS
Look out for the bears, by many we were told,
They may not be asleep and can be quite bold,
We were going to walk the Silver Trail that day,
Quite a feat for two old folk wouldn’t you say?

We set out quite determined that if a bear we saw
We would be kind and polite, even shake his paw,
Ask him to pose for a special photograph or two,
Sit this way and that, it sounded a good thing to do.

I don’t think we would hit him with a big fat stick,
Or play dead, try to scare him with a scream or kick,
They were here first and we trespass on their space,
We should greet them as friends, a smile on each face.

Offer them a sandwich or a pile of ripe juicy fruit,
While they are eating along the path quietly scoot,
But they look so warm and cuddly standing there,
Even if the do reach to over seven foot in the air.

We will be very careful, yet I do hope I see out there
A nice big bear, at a distance, standing tall in the air.
I will not ask him to pose but a picture I will take,
And I’m sure an interesting tale it would truly make.
