DANCE BEFORE MY EYES
Although my body is weary, my mind is a fast river
That seems to be flowing with poetry ideas forever,
To just lie down and rest to sleep is a very hard thing,
As ideas soar high in the mind on an eagles great wing.
The rest of the house is all deeply and fast asleep,
But poetic thoughts into my active brain do creep,
Especially in spring when the world here is truly fair
And beauty seems to excel itself just about everywhere.
I watched the salmon fight their way up the river to spawn,
Remembering from years ago where they were all born,
The fish scales sparkle and glitter in the early spring sun,
Soon their great battle for creation will soon be won.
More scenes dance so temptingly before my very tied eyes,
But my weariness may win and tonight sleep be my needed prize,
I will try and remember the visions and stories that come my way,
Then hope to catch the pictures at the start of another new day.
