HOT MINCE PIES
They have just come out of the oven, still too hot
To bite into, but I am going to have to take a shot
At trying to take a bite in for it smells so very good,
A good source of energy and a sweet tasty food.
Usually people think of Christmas and mince pies,
But my mind says why just then and to my surprise
All the family agree they should be made all the time,
To save them for once a year is really a great crime.
I’ve just had a bite, I think I burnt the end of my tongue,
I’ll give it a blow, no one to see and it’s not really wrong
When you want that hot mince pie as sweet as it can be,
And get my share before they are gobbled by the family.
It’s even better if the mincemeat you make yourself
Instead of just buying it from off the local store shelf,
The recipe is not simple and takes quite a long time
But then that mince pie is a food treasures quite divine.
