- A STRANGE HAPPENSTANCE
I must tell of a happenstance that occurred the other day,
Nothing very special yet on reflection funny in every way,
We were sitting have lunch at ease and the cat came to sit,
Took her time to settle, then I thought she had had a fit,
For all of a sudden up in the air she flew, a big fluff ball,
All four legs splayed far, claws out, about to clime the wall.
A grrr-meow a frightful sound and up went cat and plate,
She made a hole in my pantyhose quite a terrible fate.
I only tugged a little on her fluffy tail, my husband said,
Both cat and I from heart failure we could have been dead.
But then we saw the funny side and a hidden camera would
Have been ideal, for funniest videos it would have been good.
It took awhile to calm the cat and me to find food that flew,
But we were laughing so hard those tasks were hard to do.
So I will give a warning if you have lunch on the chesterfield,
And get an urge to pull the cats tail please try you best to yield
To a more sensible act and pet her quietly, or ignore her thats best
For if something like that happens again, I may have my final rest.
