More poems about Food

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE FOR LUNCH?
What would you like for lunch I say, he says I don’t know,
I look on shelves and the fridge, a don’t know don’t show,
We don’t have any I don’t know, shall I run to the store,
But I don’t know what it looks like, of that I am sure.

Anything then he says with a twinkle in his bright eye,
But the cupboard is bare of that as well I say with a sigh,
A couple of boiled eggs is out for our quota is all gone
Beans on toast is nice, but visitors are going to come.

I’ll just make something, a sandwich and some soup,
Or some grilled cheese and a bowl of nice fresh fruit,
By the time I make it so hungry we will both be
That we don’t mind what it is, just our hunger set free.
