More poems about Children

        IT’S HARD TO SAY FAREWELL
The family from up north have been here for a few days,
Now they have gone home and we’ll miss their ways,
Miss the laughter and all the fun that families bring,
Togetherness at meal time and many a little thing.

There is no one playing in the back yard, all is still
Save for the birds and squirrels having their fill
Of seed, nuts and other scraps that they like to eat
But it’s better grandchildren sounds us to greet.

Empty clean made up beds for when they come again,
But it’s a long trip and the journey can be quite a pain
With four children and maybe the dog over all the miles
Between north and south Ontario, yet we meet with smiles.

We’ll try and get up north as soon as we possibly can,
Work out a time to go, work out some happy plan,
So once again for awhile together we can all be
Then once again bounce the little ones on our knee.
