AT THE RACES
In this sketch there is a mystery beyond compare,
Look closely and see four sets of feet down there,
But one set goes into nothingness and I wonder why,
Did she not want her parents to know or was she shy?

A floppy hat, a parasol and a very pretty dress,
The men quite debonair seem full of pomp I do confess,
‘I’ll put my shirt on Saucy Sal, I got a good tip today,
The jockey is a friend and she’s a winner all the way’.

I like the pretty horse with the long flowing tail,
He’s an outsider so I get more money if he doesn’t fail.
Let’s go in the stands, not bet but watch the horses run,
We can cheer our choices and still have lots of fun.

I’d love to know what the friends did on that racing day,
Did they have a wager and win or went broke away,
I am much to chicken to waste money on a horse race,
If the one with the flowing tail wins a smile will be my face.
