A CAT WHO CARES
We have an Himalayan with bright blue eyes
and grey fur,
A friendly cat, a worried cat, and very concerned
I do refer
To the time since Ive been very sick and
get a coughing fit,
She jumps up wide eyes and meows in fear
and wants to sit
On my knee and paws my hand so gently,
Until I say OK,
But she still sits close beside me and purrs in
a very protective way.
She follows me to the bathroom and wait
right by the door
If she thinks Im too long under the door
comes her paw.
If my hot-water bottle gets a little cool
she goes to find Brian
And glares at him almost like some big
ferocious lion.
She is waiting by the door as I write this
poem timing me,
The fires lit and me and the hot-water bottle
want on your knee.
