A BIG POT OF STEW
When the weather is damp, chilly and cold,
And in the sky large heavy snow clouds unfold,
One thing that always goes down so very well
Is a big pot of stew full of goodness all can tell,
Pearl barley, split peas soaked and boiled just right,
Full of goodness a base for a meal full of delight,
Nice chunks of beef sauteed with onion and celery,
Until the meat is as tender as stewing beef can be.
Place these together and let them boil so very slow,
Keep on a lid so all the goodness does not up and go.
Then add all the vegies that you have lying around,
Then spices and thickening and goodness is found.
Why not drop by just at about supper time, join in,
Come and fill a bowl or plate up to the very brim,
Even have a slice of bread so as not to waste a drop,
There will be enough for seconds if you wish to stop.
