WINTERS GIFT
We had about a foot of snow, then freezing rain,
I must admit getting around was quite a pain,
But then a late afternoon sun began to show
Through the fleeing clouds, the world was all aglow.
I glanced at the swaying trees, they danced with delight,
They sparkled, glittered and glowed in that sun so bright,
Each branch bedecked with borrowed jewels quite rare,
A winters gift of ice covered trees swaying out there.
Silver and gold glinted from the branches up so high,
Then changed to a dazzling pink as the sun left the sky,
Spectacular in beauty, I wonder how many stopped to see
This vision of loveliness that came free from every tree.
As the branches moved twigs sparkled like diamonds,
Frosted fingers covered in rings and silver fronds,
Even the trunk shone as it caught the suns last rays,
One of the prettiest sights Ive seen in all my days.
