GATHERING LEAVES AGAIN
In the back garden in fall many leaves come down,
They all look so pretty you dont really want to frown,
Just enjoy the colours as you gather them all together,
Hope the wind stays calm and we have nice weather.
One great big pile of golds and yellows and bright red,
I have found some out for pressing and gently spread
Then on wax paper the other can be bagged away,
But hear come the grandchildren in them to play.
Oh, the screams of laughter the giggles and loads of fun,
The enormous pile of pretty leaves is scattered and gone,
All the children bouncing in the big soft leaf pile,
Although it means more work we had to have a smile.
Once again they are all ready for the garden garbage bags,
Three are filled to overflowing and our energy really sags,
Leaving them until morning was a crazy things to go and do
For the leaves had scattered again all the garden through,
But I think Ill leave them drifting not gather them again,
For the trees are still loaded and well have more leaf rain,
And if the snow falls and covers them from our sight,
Well just forget them until spring wins her long fight.
