PEACEFUL LAKE
There is a peaceful lake with a long rocky ledge
That stands tall along its far northern edge,
On the west there is a soft pleasant sandy beach,
On the south a rivers exit that seemed out of reach.
It was fed from the east by an awakening spring,
Gurgling with delight that only new found life can bring,
I stood as still as stone and I gazed around to see
That spectacle of great beauty that was there before me.
There were loons with their young having fun at play,
Yet in playing learned how to survive every day,
A mighty moose stood, his great noble head held high
Silhouetted in majesty against the glorious morning sky,
A rainbow trout jumped and glistened in the early sun,
What a wonderful way for my day to have just begun.
I had walked along untrodden ways this place to find,
A great treasure for me to carry forever in my mind,
I was an intruder in natures unspoilt realm almost divine,
I gazed and wept, to take a picture I felt I should decline.
I felt it wrong to do so, just leave that special quiet place,
Just remembered by me in glorious beautys fair grace,
I will not even try and find that spot, not never again,
But Ill bring that place to mind to ease all hurt and pain.
