QUICK AND EASY
Some times when browsing through a cookery book
You find something simple for you to go and cook,
It becomes a favourite with your family and friends,
One that is quick and easy on which you can depend.

I found one at a friends house that I like a quite a lot
And on a small card the instructions I did quickly jot,
Then went to file it away in my old recipe scrap book
I could not believe my eyes, I had to take another look!

There was the same recipe it had first come from me
One I had forgotten about, many years I did not see
This quickly made cake that is done so very fast,
Then after I made it I found out it did not really last.

It seemed to get gobbled up before the topping was on,
The cooling cake got nibbled until it was all gone,
None left for any lunches or to give any away,
None left for icing and I like it best by far that way.

I will have to make it when no one is around at all,
Get the cake all cooked and iced whatever may befall,
There will be moans because the scraping were gone
But at least the cake will be finished my battle won.
