OLD COOKBOOKS
It’s fun looking for new recipes find new things to cook,
And I love to browse through many a cookery book,
Some would cost an arm and a leg to place on the table,
To rob a bank would be to afford, I would ever be able.

One I really fancied took 24 crab and lobster as well
And 3 pounds of king shrimp for the rich you can tell,
Cooked and served on wild rice with some best caviar,
This feast fed four ! We’d have to go and sell the car.

Another fish dish called for 8 large salmon steaks,
Fresh minced crab for stuffing, what a treat it makes,
Served with baked potatoes and cream parsley sauce,
This great fishy treat also served only four of cause.

Then I looked at the date in that old cookery book,
Put together in the fifties and another further look
Showed it was from the Maritimes, fish easy to find,
But I’ll read them over often and drool in my mind.
