        A CHILD’S PRAYER
As a child I prayed that Old Shep would not die,
For my heart was breaking and tears in my eye,
He is my friend and together run about and play,
Please Father, save my dog don’t take him away.

He did not answer yes, but He comforted me,
Understanding filled my heart peace set me free,
He wanted Shep in heaven for he was now old,
Wanted to take him back to the doggie fold.

As I knelt I felt a love so very kind and dear
I knew that Old Shep would always be near,
Others pets would come my way to love,
A quality I needed to live in heaven above.

Now I am grown but will remember that prayer,
How sweetly it was answered feeling Him there,
That if the answer has to be no He feels your pain
And is there to bless you until you a healed again.
