More poems about Fathers

        ON FATHER’S DAY FOR BRIAN
Many times a day when I look at you and silently say,
‘I am so glad that it was you that came my way,
For there is no one in this world that I want to be
The father of my children now and through eternity.’

Honour and honesty and striving to live God’s plan
With all your heart and mind, yes, my kind of man,
I knew you were special all those many years ago,
Yet I didn’t know just how much my love would grow.

Each child I saw you hold just new from heaven above
Showed me how much you cared, and how much love
Dwelt within you, my dearest husband, forever mine,
I could see in those kind eyes a love that was divine.

You are the one I knew would be the father of each child,
For I knew that as well as being strict you could be mild,
Stroking the hair when they were little ones, sick or in pain,
Using your priesthood power to make them well again.

May the Lord bless you my darling, my children’s dad,
More than a father, stop and think of all the fun we had,
May we both we worthy to rear another family above
Where we will be ever blest by God’s eternal love.
