        DO I HEAR OR LISTEN
I may hear what you say but do I listen all that well,
Can I clear my mind, so your message may dwell
Within me, not listen with my ears but with my heart?
If I can do this, then of listening I am going my part.

An open mind all free from trite and clever sayings,
For while the brain is very busy, your ears only listening,
Your full attention should be given to every word said,
Go on, try it, keep clear your heart and also your head.

Please look while you listen, also note the voices tone,
Understand things not spoken, and things will be shown
To the true listener who always can put others first of all,
For this is all part of listening, please listen for a silent call.

The true gift of listening is a really quite a priceless thing,
And you will be surprised how much joy the gift can bring.
Be a good listener to try and help you fellow men each day,
Never underestimate the power and love that you give away.
