A BATCH OF CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
It is quite awhile since a batch of chocolate chip cookies I’ve made,
It’s not much cheaper to make them and I’m very busy I’m afraid.
My husband says he does not like those cookies save they be hot,
Right out of the oven, then I have to watch he doesn’t eat the lot.

It is the smell that wafts around and relatives seem to come to call,
Then you find that just baking a double batch was far too small,
You have make sure to grab a couple if you can before they go,
It makes you wonder how on earth everyone seems to know.

If perchance you have been asked to bake for church or school,
You may have a problem and you don’t want to look a fool
By only taking a couple of dozen instead of a nice full tray,
Just send the nibblers off to the activity and for the cookies pay.

While writing this a desire for home made cookies has come,
If I hurry before dinner time maybe a triple batch will be done,
I’ll go and see how many chocolate chips I can am able to find,
But if I cook others I’m sure no one will too much will mind.
