DESPONDENCY
Sometimes even the brightest day can bring a cloud,
A feeling of sad despondency, like a heavy shroud
Cast upon your shoulders to darken that good day,
But with a prayer in your heart it can be sent away.
Sometimes life throws a curve ball, you strike out,
The feeling that comes may make you want to shout,
But at that moment, stop, take a deep breath and say,
Please help me Father above, stop me feeling this way.
Sing a hymn, say a prayer, write a poem of sweet praise,
In some form of rejoicing your heart to Him then raise,
Look through the clouds of despair and see the light,
Turn and face it bravely and serve with all you might.
Next time despondency creeps across the sun one day,
Quickly choose the things to do to send it far away,
You be your own ray of sunshine glowing so bright
That the sad feelings will be consumed by His light.
