        WANTING SNOW FOR CHRISTMAS
She knew she would have a new dress and a toy or two,
Some books to read, these things always came through,
Deep down inside a white Christmas she wanted most of all,
This she could not ask for unless Mother Nature came to call.

A lovely tree had been purchased, a real live one this year,
The kind with short needles, quite a healthy looking little fir,
The scent of pine filled the home and still no white snow came,
It would not be Christmas to her, no things would not be the same.

The day before Christmas large snow clouds rolled from the lake,
She prayed they would stop right above, a white Christmas make,
She need not have worried tons of snow came down very fast,
Oh yes, there would be a white Christmas, lovely snow at last.

The plane bringing relatives could not land at the airport,
Folks not able to get home for Christmas, then she thought,
If my white Christmas has caused this chaos everywhere,
I wish that all the pretty white stuff had stayed in the air.

They saved Christmas day until the family came through,
They had been stranded for hours waiting, nothing to do
But wait for the snow storm to cease so all could be together,
Then the child realized people are more important than weather.

Never again did she want snow for Christmas, just in case
It stopped her seeing far away relatives, each smiling face
Being all safe and happy together on that special family day,
For a happy Christmas comes when love in a home does stay,
