FEEDING THE BIRDS
This morning we went to the lake the gulls and ducks to feed,
Give them a quick meal in spring time we feel theres a need,
But not one duck, gull or any geese were to be seen at all,
We could not ever hear the sound of their combined raucous call.
Disappointed, we threw the bread on rocks at the side of the lake,
Then slowly wandered back to the car, that was our big mistake,
For from out of nowhere a flock of seagulls and ducks came flying,
Where did they come from so suddenly all happily rejoicing?
Next time if no birds are seen we will sit and throw out piece or two
Of bread, then wait a moment for now we know theyll all come through
And swoop in the air to catch it or skim the water with grace,
Oh yes, next time we will hang around to put a smile on our face.
