HOPING FOR SPRING
Today was the kind of day that is wonderful to see,
Rain washed a lot of snow away, soon well be free
Of even the great big piles that are stacked everywhere,
You should have heard the songs of the birds in the air.
The red winged blackbirds are bathing in our back yard,
To imagine spring just around the corner is not very hard.
After the morning rain, the sun shone bright and clear,
It means racoons with be digging up the lawn again I fear.
The nights are getting shorter, the sun longer does stay,
Theres a warmer feeling in the air at the start of each day,
The bulbs are showing little green sprouts here and there,
Surely there will be no more snow, but warm rain so fair.
Spring is just around the corner, this time Im quite sure,
No more snow to fall let just gentle rain come and pour
Down on the waiting soil to renew the ground for rebirth,
Then well go in the garden, plant and dig this sweet earth.
We have just called our son who lives up in Kirkland Lake,
He told us they had another ton of snow, thats hard to take,
When all you want to see is dear flowers growing everywhere,
Not have all that white stuff come floating down on ice cold air.
