        EARLY TWITTERPATION
Although it is only February the creatures seem to be
Already very twitterpated, crazy and silly, you should see
Them running up and down trees, seed they now ignore,
All that’s on a squirrel mind is a mate they can adore.

Even the chipmunks have shown up very early to feed,
So of our resident ground hog we will take no heed,
It seems as if the sparrows and juncos are paired off,
All look very twitterpated and at cold winter do scoff.

The squirrels have a small problem there are eleven,
That’s an odd number just as bad as nine or seven,
But maybe there’s some hiding away somewhere,
Unaware of all the twitterpation going on out there.

Maybe spring will come early and nature knows best,
I’ll carefully count the weeks and so put it to the test,
So when spring comes in all her glory quite soon,
After all this cold and snow it will be a great boon.
