        BOBBING REFLECTORS
Driving home the other evening in the dark,
Coming along the sidewalk we saw quite a lark,
Four bobbing reflectors, they seemed to be alone,
Two people holding hands four reflectors did own.

As we come a little closer at last we could see
A big black dog wagging his long tail gleefully,
His feet he lifted up his four paws in delight,
He seemed to know his paws glowed bright.

Although I have seen dogs wear shoes before,
A good idea for our pet, it saves many a paw
From getting frost bite or cuts from the ice,
Although they funny I always thought them nice.

But shoes with reflectors are quite new to me
And their true purpose, I could not at all see,
Unless he sneaks out at night to meet a girl friend,
Does he put his own shoes on not, on us depend?

If you know why by dogs cute reflector shoes are worn,
Is it just to keep them safe from busy traffic’s harm,
Do owner take their dogs to choose what they like
So they are different when they go for their hike.

I love all animals great and small, dogs near the top
Of my list, but at reflector shoes my loving would stop,
I inquired at the pet store and nearly died of fright
Fifty dollars a pair, not set, sorry the price is out of sight.

So any dogs that come my way who’s paws need covering,
For a set of reflector shoes they would have to sing,
Oven mitts, remodeled with ribbons do the job quite well,
And the family jewels I will not have to pawn or sell.
